Things to do in Coffin Bay 4. Gunyah Beach

Located about 10km from town, Gunyah Beach is a wild and spectacular surf beach. It is a great place to go fishing for large Australian salmon.

Note that the road into Gunyah is for 4WD vehicles only. The track begins from the national park road and is very rocky and sandy but not a problem for experienced 4WD'ers. Make sure that you let your tyres down prior to entering the large blown out sand dunes. 18PSI works fine. I also suggest that you do not drive on the beach itself. It can be very soft and many vehicles have gotten hopelessly bogged on it. It will cost you a lot of money to get rescued!

A successful beach fishing trip as two anglers proudly display their catch—a hard-fighting Australian salmon—against the backdrop of a dramatic, cloudy sky and rolling waves.

The sand dunes at Gunyah are fantastic for sandboarding!
